New Lawn Watering Instructions

When your lawn is new, it is important to water frequently and lightly. We recommend watering each area for 10 minutes, 2-3 times per day. If the ground is already wet from rain, this is not necessary.

After the first cut, you should water infrequently and heavy. Watering should be done  2-3 times per week for 20-30 minutes. This should continue until the middle of September.

Grass Cutting Instructions

The first cutting of your new lawn should be performed when it reaches a height of approximately 3 ½”- 4”. For normal mowing practices it is recommended that the grass be cut to a height of 3”-3 ½” tall. In the fall the grass should gradually be cut shorter with the final cut being 2 ½” tall.

Additional Seeding

To obtain a thick and healthy lawn it is recommended that your lawn be aerated and seeded each year. The optimal time to perform this is in the months of September or October. When doing additional seeding, a seed mix with predominately Tall Fescue Grass is preferred.
